Model: Air Wildwood ACG
Key Features: The sneaker’s upper is constructed entirely from leather, with a perforated base layer and paneling along the mudguard, heel, and Swoosh. Its sawtooth waffle sole gives the model a rugged, outdoorsy vibe, while ACG branding on the midsole and tongue round out the look.
Release Date: April 20
Editor’s Notes: The Nike Air Wildwood ACG is making a comeback 30 years after its 1989 debut. According to the Swoosh, the silhouette is a direct descendant of 1982’s Air Escape and was designed initially as an off-road runner. But with its durable build, the Air Wildwood ACG became popular as a Jack-of-all-trades sneaker.
Rugged detailing such as the sawtooth waffle sole and leather upper are complemented by pops of color on the Swoosh and ACG branding. The shoe has quietly been available in a number of colorways, but with a new direction for ACG following the departure of ACRONYM’s Errolson Hugh as creative director last year and a greater emphasis on throwback styles, Nike is trying to generate a bigger buzz for this drop.
