The next installment of Barneys' Sole Series of shoe collaborations comes by way of Converse. The classic Chuck Taylors are given the colors red, white and black, a nod to Barneys' first-ever collab with the shoemaker from back in 2008. Brands who previously participated in the Sole Series include adidas, Filling Pieces and Vans.
While the original Converse x Barneys sneakers were made of perforated leather, the new versions - releasing today - bare wrinkled patent leather. Together with translucent outsoles and tonal lacing (except the red one with black laces), the shiny uppers look more luxurious than the casual sportiness that usually defines Converse.
Chris Pepe, senior buyer of men's footwear at Barneys, tells us that the shoes "can really appeal to a broad customer base." We agree. Do you?
