Kim Kardashian West graces the front cover of ELLE‘s April 2018 issue, and months after welcoming her daughter Chicago West through a surrogate mother, the reality star/entrepreneur has revealed that having a fourth child is already on her mind. Additionally, Mrs. Kardashian West opens up on motherhood, surrogacy, embracing controversy and other things for ELLE‘s April 2018 cover story.
…on being a neat freak.
KKW: “My life is chaotic, so my home is supersimple. Everything has to be clean. No clutter.”
…on being a neat freak through her digital life as well.
KKW: “I can’t have a full phone. At the end of the day, I delete everything that’s not a current conversation. If I need some information, then I keep it. If not, it has to be deleted. I can’t see too much noise.”
…on having a brand-free home, as the lack of commercial noise is that her home doubles as a film set, where logos are either blurred or blacked out in order to avoid trademark infringement.
KKW: “It’s a label-less house.”
…on Kanye’s dream project. (for example: Yeezy x Walgreens)
KKW: “If Kanye had a dream project, it would be to make a Yeezy product line—like deodorant, every product you could imagine. He would redo them all; he hates how they look.”
…on the topic of organization.
KKW: “If things aren’t organized, I flip out. My kids’ clothes have their name ironed into them on little labels. I know where everything is, and I. Do. Not. Lose. Things.”
…on the gritty details and traumatic experience suffering from placenta accreta during the delivery of North and Saint West.
KKW: “After giving birth, your placenta is supposed to come out. But mine was stuck. That’s what women usually die from in childbirth—you hemorrhage and bleed to death and they can’t stop it. To get it out—it’s so disgusting—the doctor had to stick his whole arm in me and scrape it off. It was the most painful.”
…on finally choosing the surrogate for the birth of her third child Chicago West, immediately.
KKW: “It was a feeling. You know when you can trust someone.”
…on the process after choosing the surrogate.
KKW: “It’s a really tricky thing, “What sex do you put in? I just said, ‘Which one is the healthiest? Pick the healthiest one,’ and that was a girl.”
…on her experience using a surrogate for the birth of her third child.
KKW: “As much as I hated it, I still wished I could have done it on my own. The control is hard at the beginning. Once you let that go, it’s the best experience. I would recommend surrogacy for anybody.”
…on doing surrogacy again and having a fourth child
KKW: “I dunno… My home and my heart feel really full right now, in the best way. I don’t think I could handle more than that (4). My time is spread really thin. And I think it’s important that in all couples, the mom gives the husband as much attention as the kids.”
…on being accused of racism and cultural appropriation for her recent “Bo Derek Braids.”
KKW: “I’m not worried, because I love Bo Derek.. It’s a reference. If you genuinely love something, then it’s what you should do. It’s appreciation.
It’s one thing when people mock something and are negative. I’m clearly not being negative. Images mean a lot to me. I spend a lot of time on them.”
…on what people think about her.
KKW: “At the beginning, I looked at people’s opinions. Now I’m content in my life, and I don’t care. The things that make me happy now are different. But I swear, you have to be born for this. It’s not for everyone. I know I can handle it.”
