[UPDATE: December 18, 10:30 a.m. ET] We can now confirm that the Nike AM97 “Country Camo” drops will be exclusive to each region it’s released in, meaning the U.S. colorway will only be available in The States.
With prices confirmed at $180, release dates for each region are as follows: Dec. 19 (UK), Dec. 20 (Germany), Dec. 21 (USA and France) and Dec. 22 (Italy). Each drop will be available at regional Nike stores as well as Nike.com.
[UPDATE: December 15, 6:00 a.m. ET] While it was previously unknown whether the U.S. would get its own shoe as part of the “Country Camo” pack, we can now confirm that the colorway first seen on Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas is officially part of the pack. The sneakers will most likely release on December 21.
The U.S.A. colorway features a tiger-camo print which, like the Italian and French versions, spans the entire upper. A black mid- and outsole complete the look, while the classic visible Air unit provides comfort and stability.
Model: Air Max 97
Key Features: This pack sees the Air Max 97 dressed up in various military patterns from around the world, including Germany, France, Italy, and the UK.
Each variation will come with interchangeable velcro patches on the tongue that feature either the flag of the country of origin, or a classic Nike logo. Three of the four colorways sit atop a white sole, while the “Italy” version features a black mid- and outsole.
Release Date: December 21
Price: Not yet confirmed, but will most likely range anywhere between $160 and $170.
Editor’s Notes: The Nike Air Max 97’s 20th anniversary has been a big one with hyped collaborations such as the UNDEFEATED pack, Virgil Abloh’s take on the silhouette in his “The Ten” collection, and Skepta’s Morrocco-inspired version, making 2017 a strong year for the much-loved model.
Perhaps as a final farewell to the 97 in 2017, Nike is releasing a “Country Camo” pack which will reportedly be available in late December. Much like the original military-inspired Air Max pack released in 2013, this one sees the Air Max 97 dressed up in various military patterns from around the world.
While the original “Country Camo” pack was made up of various Air Max models, Nike is highlighting the Air Max 97 by only using one model throughout the pack.
