Brand: Nike Gyakusou

Season: SS18

Key Pieces: Hooded Jacket, Short-Sleeve Packable Jacket, Dri-FIT Tank, Shorts.

Editor’s Notes: For Spring/Summer 2018, Jun Takahashi is helping runners achieve zen-like focus by tackling warm-weather problems. Thanks to new fabric technologies and savvy functionality from Nike Gyakusou, you’ll be good to go in steamy temperatures and flash rains.

Included within Nike Gyakusou’s SS18 collection are a number of standouts, ranging from the Hooded Jacket to the Packable Jacket, Dri-FIT Tank, and Shorts.

The Hooded Jacket, first off, conveniently converts from a sleeved covering to a breathable vest. The garment’s sleeves and hood are a single removable element, attached by a zipper at the neck. The graphic pattern featured on the vest is indicative of where rain hits the torso. Finally, waterproof, three-layer fabric ensures rain will not penetrate the outerwear.

The Short-Sleeve Packable Jacket notes half-zip entry. The piece is noticeably lightweight, all while providing protection from wind and rain. Elastic strips at the hood, waist, and cuffs ensure the jacket remains in place, while mesh inserts at the underarms and back provide ample ventilation. Zippered pockets allow you to carry various belongings during your runs, and reflective accents will keep you seen at all times.

Next, Nike Gyakusou’s new Dri-FIT Tank is designed to wick moisture away from the body. Thanks to data from body maps, perforations have been placed at all the right spots to disperse heat and moisture. The top is then finished off with glow-in-the-dark and reflective detailing.

The latest Gyakusou Shorts welcome a high-stretch Dri-FIT compression layer below a woven outer to provide support and coverage, while a breathable layer in turn vents. You can adjust fit via an internal drawcord and utilize stash pockets for storage. Like the other styles, the shorts also feature reflective graphics.

You can look forward to Nike Gyakusou’s new spring/summer styles — in men’s and women’s — arriving on nike.com in May.

In other Swoosh news, the updated M2K Tekno dad shoe drops in men’s sizes July 1.
