Editor’s Notes: Product images of a triple-black Nike Shox R4 have appeared online, as this stealthy iteration of one of Nike’s most recognizable sneaker styles is set for release this week.
Shox technology was the Swoosh’s big play in the early ’00s until it was phased out and replaced by Nike Free. While there have been several new Shox releases over the years, Nike officially relaunched the line during the second half of 2018, starting with the R4 in its original colorway.
COMME des GARÇONS also debuted a custom Shox sneaker on the runway in Paris in September, although whether that collaboration will see the light of day remains to be seen.
Due to the rise of oddly shaped sneakers and retro-inspired designs, Nike and other sportswear companies have been dipping into their archives to tap into trends. The return of the Shox R4 is part of that movement.
The triple-black Shox R4 launches this Thursday, February 14, at 10 a.m. EST. Let us know if you plan on copping a pair.
