Yesterday, Nike and The Michael J. Fox Foundation announced the official release date for the highly anticipated 2016 Nike MAG. As an effort to promote the news, the Swoosh offered an exclusive opportunity for select media personnel in New York City to get up close and personal with the shoe.
Hosted in a spacious SoHo pop-up radiated by hues of magenta, blue and purple neon florescents, the MAG's evolution was put on full display via several Plexiglas cubes presenting the shoe from concept to completion, including the early blueprints created during Back to the Future II's pre-production, the sneaker's technological anatomy and the handwritten letter Tinker Hatfield wrote to Michael J. Fox, who was the MAG's first recipient last year.
Guests were also invited to try on the MAG and experience Nike's revolutionary Adaptive Fit technology (aka "power laces"), which tightens or loosens accordingly after sensing the wearer's foot size. Additionally, upon request, we were given the chance to view the sneaker's rarely-spotted shoe box.
