Ever since the summer of 1969 when the brave patrons of New York’s Stonewall Inn stood up to police raids and gave way to the movement of gay liberation, June has been recognized as LGBT Pride month. To commemorate this year’s Pride, Nike has announced the first piece of this year’s “Be True” collection: a rainbow-studded Air Max Zero.
Interestingly, Nike takes a subtle route with what could have been a color extravaganza. The sneaker is immaculately white, from sole to upper to laces. The rainbow pattern is only present on the Air unit insole, with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it touch on the heel of the outsole. But the shoe does have a touch of sparkle with minor reflective details laden throughout.
The Air Max Zero “Be True” has no official release date, but is expected to arrive this month.
