In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re throwing a month-long party here at Highsnobiety celebrating Air Max Day. This year is also the 30th anniversary of Nike’s original Air Max 1—the first sneaker to introduce visible-air—and to honor the momentous occasion in sneaker history the brand is releasing the Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0.

The brand new silhouette is a recognizable close relative of the Air Max 1 which was re-released earlier this month. It shares the OG’s signature lines, colorway and shape, but the devil is in the details…

Developing something new is crucial when reworking one of Tinker Hatfield’s most innovative designs. The Ultra 2.0 features the super-lightweight cored-out outsole making it one of the lightest Air Max models ever. A clear and full “3.26” on the tongue references, of course, the original shoe’s anniversary date – Air Max Day.

The Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 is available from today, visit Nike’s web store, or check Hanon or Solebox.

Highsnobiety and Nike are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 1 with an entire month of in-depth articles, personal stories and events leading up to Air Max Day 2017. Read how three real Berlin creatives realized their vision against the odds here, find out the how the original Air Max 1 and the new Nike “Master” release came about, and see how you and your ‘gram can get featured on Highsnobiety with our Nike Snobshots competition.
