Sneakers
From the ground up

It has been revealed that Tiffany Beers, the design brains behind some of Nike’s most daring sneakers, including the self-lacing MAG and HyperAdapt 1.0, has left the Oregon giant to take up a new post with Tesla. Beers first joined the Swoosh in 2004 to oversee the development of new airbags and quickly became one of the most crucial employees at the company.

Beers initially teased the news in an Instagram post which featured a fortune cookie note reading: “It’s time for a different dance. Stretch Yourself. Take a risk.” Having served as senior innovator at Nike, Beers’ new title will be staff technical program manager. Quite what that entails remains to be seen, but we’re betting it’s only a matter of time before something dope emerges from the partnership.

Is it? 🤔#fortunefavorsthebold 🤓

In addition to the self-lacing models, Beers also played a key part in realizing Kanye West’s first Yeezy shoe. She would regularly look to the past for inspiration, and struck up a fruitful bond with the legendary Tinker Hatfield, who she sat to the left of at Nike’s Beaverton HQ.

How do you think Beers will get on at Tesla? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
