Model: LeBron 16 Low “Safari”
Key Features: The LeBron 16 low features the same safari-themed colorway that featured on atmos’ 2003 Air Max 1 collaboration. Whereas regular LeBron 16 lows don’t feature nike Swooshes on the medial and lateral sides, this version does in a similar style to the Air Max 1. A gum outsole, orange upper, and mini Swoosh on the toe box round out the look. Nike branding is also present on the heels of each shoe, while LeBron branding is on the bottom of the outsole.
Release Date: Today, 10 AM EST.
Editor’s Notes: Nike recently unveiled its latest collaboration with atmos, the subject of which is the LeBron 16 low. Taking inspiration from an old collaboration, the atmos x Nike LeBron 16 low features the same safari print and colorway that adorned the Japanese retailer’s Nike Air Max 1.
The atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Safari” dropped in 2003, the same year that LeBron James was drafted first overall by the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, making it a special year for both the player and sneaker culture.
Considered by many to be a grail, the “Safari” Air Max 1 took the OG Air Safari’s eye-catching colorway and applied it to the Air Max 1 during that silhouette’s heydey in the early to mid 2000’s. Now the same has been done with the LeBron 16 low, with many of the features taken directly from the original and reapplied to a more performance-focused shoe.
To celebrate the release, today at 10AM EST, atmos commissioned a special Transformer with safari print. Check it out below.
