BMX phenom Nigel Sylvester recently teamed up with Nike's Jordan Brand to release his very own Air Jordan I collaboration. The sneaker dropped on September 1 to a lot of fanfare, selling out across retailers.
The collaboration came about because the Air Jordan I serves as Sylvester’s go-to sneaker when riding BMX. Only his Jordans end up sporting heavy distress marks, which come about during the trial and error part of mastering tricks (probably more the errors).
Sylvester’s Nike Air Jordan I was designed to mimic those marks, with hand-made distressing added to a discolored sail upper. As is customary when Jordan Brand gets someone to collaborate on an Air Jordan I, the attention to detail is second to none.
A reflective medial Swoosh, deconstructed lateral Swoosh, and a mini version on the sneaker’s forefoot add to the originality of the design, while the black tongue and red laces and outsole add a dope contrast to the sail upper.
Of course, as is customary when copping a “W” on an exclusive drop, sneakerheads worldwide took to Instagram to flex their latest pickup. If you managed to scoop yourself a pair and need inspiration for how to style them, look no further than our roundup below of the best shots of the sneaker in the wild.
