Having dropped and quickly sold out in the run-up to animation studio Laika’s “Missing Link”, the newest addition to the Nike Air Max 1 family makes quite the statement. Done out in a wild multicolored upper with a sail “Swoosh”, brown midsole and gum sole, those who took an L on the new pair can now shop the kicks at StockX with a to-be-expected premium on their initial retail value.
The design inspiration comes care of Nike founder Phil Knight’s son and owner of Laika, Travis. But this is no first rodeo when it comes to Nike collabs, with the kicks joining Laika-designed Nike silhouettes including the Air Foamposite One ParaNorman, Dunk High Coraline, Roshe Run The Boxtrolls “Trollstrikes”, and Air Jordan 15 Kubo.
This particular pair of AM1s takes cues from new film “Missing Link”s main character, Mr. Link, and his multi-patterned brown, yellow, and green costume. The “Susan” part of its name comes from a social blunder made early on in the film in an attempt to hide his identity.
