Nike could be bringing back its Air Rift silhouette after product shots recently surfaced. The model received a revival of sorts a few years ago but only truly resonated with fans of this niche and divisive style. Now, with split-toe tabi shoes making a comeback, Nike might be hoping it's second time lucky for the Air Rift.

The Air Rift is part-sandal, part-sneaker, featuring a Japanese-inspired split-toe design. Split-toed tabi socks were traditionally worn with thonged footwear in Japan dating back to the 15th century.

Earlier this year, Maison Margiela brought its own iconic split-toe Tabi look to a whole range of footwear, with GQ claiming the Tabi boot would be taking over 2019 after seeing it on the Golden Globes red carpet.
