Editor’s Notes: Nike and Johanna Schneider, Senior Design Director for Nike Sportswear Women’s Apparel, have teamed up to bring a new set of customization options — centering around color placement — for the Air VaporMax Flyknit to NIKEiD.
“Color placement directly affects your experience with and understanding of footwear,” says Schneider. “What I love about the Air VaporMax is that from a visual standpoint, it contains the purest form of two key Nike innovations: Nike Flyknit and Nike Air. Both technologies are revealed in this shoe in an intuitive, simple and beautiful way.”
Ultimately, we find Johanna pairing traditional shades with sophisticated applications, a process she has been utilizing when designing for the likes of Acronym and Stone Island, as well as her JFS label.
The Nike Air VaporMax by JFS notes Schneider making use of a glass bottle green hue on the VaporMax Air unit, in addition to a reddish hyper orange.
“I wanted to pair grounded, neutral colors with these two contrasting yet still organic colors,” she explains. “You can look down and see a little bit of color while on a run, beneath the shoe as it moves, or discover the design through embedded, really personal details inside the shoe.”
