Editor’s Notes: Nike continues its collaborative relationship with artist Michael Lau — which dates back to 2006 — this time with a project in conjunction with its skate division. Here we showcase the Nike SB Blazer Low that the brand and Lau will be releasing in just a matter of days.
The “Salvator Michael” Blazer Low draws inspiration from the character of a standout piece in Lau's COLLECT THEM ALL! exhibition in Shanghai. The sneaker features a canvas base fabric cut at different angles to show print variations of the character. Additional details then reference the world of art auctions, such as the staples applied around the midsole representing the staples that hold a canvas to its frame.
The Nike SB Blazer Low “Salvator Michael” is releasing on August 18 with a launch event in Shanghai. Organized by Concepts China and Fly Shanghai, the event pays tribute to the late Sandy Bodecker. Proceeds from the sale of the shoes will benefit the skateboarding community in China.
