Editor’s Notes: After revealing the upcoming “Ekiden” colorway, Nike shares a look at the next iteration of the game-changing ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% runner, showcased in “Sail/Black.” The ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% has been in headlines in recent weeks, as Eliud Kipchoge ran the first-ever sub-two-hour marathon in a modified version of the shoe. Following the feat, runners have been insisting that the sneaker — with its carbon fiber plate — provides the wearer with an unfair advantage. Still, however, the new Nike runner remains a favorite among running enthusiasts.
This particular colorway of the ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% is somewhat reminiscent of the European-exclusive “Be True” iteration from this past summer. It features a sail-colored TPE upper, as the translucent build showcases the gradient insole inside. From there, the sneaker is branded with a black Swoosh at the collar and a giant Swoosh extending from the toe box to the heel. The sole then incorporates Nike’s ZoomX cushioning, as well as the aforementioned carbon fiber plate.
Nike released the “Sail/Black” ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% overseas today, although it appears the sneaker has already sold out. We expect a stateside launch to take place in the near future.
