Back in February, Nike announced that their next partnership would be with Japanese designer label sacai, founded by COMME des GARCONS alumna Chitose Abe. It's a shrewd move and a strong followup to their most recent womenswear collaboration, Acronym's Johanna Schneider. A shared passion for innovation and a desire for bold style acted as the driving force behind the collaboration, and after previewing the Air Max 90 styles from the collection, here's the full apparel range, too.
Revered for their disruptive aesthetic, sacai mined the Nike archives in order to find classic sportswear pieces to renovate, reinterpreting Nike's heritage. The result is an eight-piece collection which manages to blend an iconic sports look with modern feminism. New innovations include a special mesh hem, the signature sacai paneling, and bonded zippers attached without any stitching. Items featured include the Tech Fleece crew, Tech Fleece hooded sweatshirt with zip, Windrunner jacket, Sport Skirt, Graphic tee, Tech Fleece dress, Tech Fleece crew top with back zip and Tech Fleece pant.
All pieces will be available March 19 at NikeLab locations in New York, London, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and on nike.com/NikeLab in North America, Western Europe, Japan and China. Select stores around the world, like Dover Street Market and colette, will carry the sneakers as well. Those of us in Japan can look forward to the goods on March 25.
