While speaking at a panel as part of music festival SXSW on Sunday, legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield unveiled a pair of unreleased Nike React sneakers. Hatfield came on stage initially wearing a pair of Justin Timberlake x Nike Air Jordan 3 Tinker “Bio Beige” before pulling a colorful and, at that point, unseen React sneaker out of a bag.

The designer revealed that the sneakers would be hitting shelves at some point in late summer or early fall 2019 but was tight-lipped about most anything else related to the new design. Still, Hatfield gave fans a good look at the kicks. He also gave away the Justin Timberlake Jordans he was initially wearing to one lucky member in attendance.

“That is marketing at a very high level. I thought I was going to get tackled out there for the sneakers,” said Hatfield. Speaking on the new React sneakers he said “This is a whole new genre of product. It’s not for running it’s for something else. I think it’s a fresh, new look at the archetypal nature of athletic shoes.”

Hatfield said fans of the new shoe will have to wait for the new advertising campaign and “a few other opportunities” to learn more about the sneaker, which the designer said has a “really cool story about why this shoe is designed the way it is.”

During his talk, he also discussed what it was like working with Michael Jordan (Hatfield is famously credited for keeping Jordan at Nike after designing the Air Jordan 3) and gave aspiring product designers tips on developing product and taking chances.
