Earlier this month, Tinker Hatfield unveiled a pair of unreleased Nike React sneakers while speaking at a panel as part of SXSW festival. Hatfield arrived onstage wearing a pair of Justin Timberlake x Nike Air Jordan 3 Tinker “Bio Beige” before pulling a colorful and hitherto unseen React sneaker out of a bag.

Now, we’ve been treated to an even closer look at the sneaker via Instagram. While the colorway is different to the pair Hatfield showed at SXSW, the React midsole with different-sized circle units indicate that it’s the same model. A mesh base on the upper is complemented by synthetic overlays and adjustable lace locks.

During his SXSW talk, Hatfield revealed that the sneakers would be hitting shelves at some point in late summer or early fall but was tight-lipped about almost anything else relating to the new design. He also gave away his Timberlake Jordans to one lucky member of the audience.

Speaking about the new Reacts, he said, “This is a whole new genre of product. It’s not for running. It’s for something else. I think it’s a fresh new look at the archetypal nature of athletic shoes.”

Hatfield said fans would have to wait for the new shoe’s advertising campaign and “a few other opportunities” to learn more about the sneaker, which the designer said has a “really cool story about why this shoe is designed the way it is.”

Elsewhere, Hatfield discussed what it was like working with Michael Jordan on the Air Jordan 3 and gave aspiring product designers tips on developing ideas and taking chances.
