Style
Where the runway meets the street

Ever since he debuted his first-ever YEEZY collection, Kanye West has been all about low-key style. Lord Yeezus threw away his pink polos and obnoxious shutter shades long ago, and is now a big fan of rugged, masculine staples — Chelsea boots, baggy hoodies, shearling jackets and whatnot.

His collections borrow heavily from military gear, and that’s clearly had a big influence on the way he dresses himself, too. This weekend, the mega-celeb stepped out onto the freezing cold NYC streets in a typically butch-yet-lazy outfit, although the internet seemed much more concerned with his latest haircut than the streetwear steez on show.

What He’s Wearing: Raf Simons bomber jacket, Gosha Rubchinskiy sweatpants, YEEZY combat boots

Whether you like it or not, Kanye is a huge tastemaker these days, so if you feel like borrowing a few elements from this weekend’s lazy-luxe-military ensemble, we’ve tracked down some affordable pieces that are available to cop right now.

Alpha Industries L-2B Bomber

A bomber jacket is an absolute menswear classic (it looks dope on women, too!). OG militarywear label Alpha Industries makes authentic replicas of proper army gear, and does so in a multitude of colors and an easy-to-handle price point. If you still don’t feel like splashing out over a hundred bucks on a bomber, just head to your nearest army surplus or vintage store instead.

H&M Hooded Jacket

Kanye’s zip-up probably comes from some ultra-expensive luxury house, but that doesn’t mean you should follow suit and drop hundreds on a plain hoodie when you can get one for a fraction of the cost from H&M.

H&M Basic T-shirt

Not much to say here — fast-fashion giant H&M has got a $8 basic tee in a suitably earthy, muddy color.

Champion x Beams Sweatpants

$200 is pretty extravagant for a pair of sweatpants, but Champion’s fleece is next-level quality-wise, and these pants from the brand’s Beams collab features some neat zips on the back of the ankle and a modern, slim-but-not-skinny silhouette.

Nike SFB Jungle Boot

Combat boots have been a staple of Kanye’s personal wardrobe since he first debuted his YEEZY collection, and while his ones cost well over $500, you can get similar joints from pretty much any army surplus store — Rothco does them for $69. Nike has also recently jointed the combat boot fever, dropping some teched-out boots with an earthy colorway and extra-high silhouette.
