To celebrate the launch of FIFA 17, EA Sports and Nike Football have teamed up to create this outrageously cool new football boot, which takes inspiration from the game's history.
First launched in 1994, the video game has remained popular among football fans around the world, who have seen it grow from the 16-bit graphics of the '90s to today’s high-definition, super realistic animations. It's this progression which inspired the pair's new Mercurial Superfly football boot.
As a nod to the gaming advancements, the medial side of the boot has a pixelated 16-bit graphic which wraps all the way around to high-definition on the lateral side. The EA SPORTS logo appears on the sockliner, lace and heel, and a special Mercurial logo was designed for the boot and its accompanying shoebox and bag. A golden thread through the laces and luminous color plates completes the crazy design.
The Nike Football Mercurial x EA SPORTS boots, which are limited to just 1500 pairs, will be available on September 26 from the Nike Football App and Nike.com.
