Editor’s Notes: John Elliott continues his collaborative partnership with Nike and LeBron James, as the designer is gearing up for a new release of his LeBron Icon. This time around we find the sneaker showcased in a "Triple Black" look that is sure to be highly coveted.

Elliott pulls inspiration from an unlikely source for the LeBron Icon design, looking to a spillway — the structure that controls and disperses water from a dam — as a reference point.

“This idea of water being released from a spillway — a force of nature — is actually really beautiful,” explains Elliott. “There are literally layers of transparency that take place down a contained, concrete area, which also speaks to my aesthetic.”

Elliott's Nike LeBron Icon utilizes the midsole tooling, including the Nike Air, from his favorite LeBron silhouette, the LeBron 8. The Icon then boasts translucent panels on the upper and court-inspired embroidery throughout, in addition to a translucent outsole.

"The Icon has become part of my uniform. It’s deeply ingrained in the brand, from the way we style our lookbooks, to how we live in Los Angeles," the designer adds. "This version is versatile because the upper allows you to create a layered look depending on what socks you wear underneath, but the all black design is also stealthy. It’s one of those sneakers that’s like a Swiss Army Knife for your wardrobe, it works with almost anything."

Alongside the "Triple Black" LeBron Icon QS, Elliott debuts two new sock colorways of Green Lime and Blue Lighting, which are designed to be worn with the shoe. The socks will be available exclusively at John Elliott's West Hollywood flagship and online when the sneaker drops, initially on May 22 at the flagship and then today, May 25, through .
