2017 has been pretty nonstop for the Air Force 1.
Starting off earlier in the year with collaborations from Supreme x COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT and ACRONYM, Nike has been making a lot of noise around the silhouette’s 35th birthday, having been originally released in 1982. More headline-grabbing news followed, like Virgil Abloh’s “The Ten” collection, which included a deconstructed Air Force 1, on top of the “AF100” pack, which added new collaborations with Virgil Abloh, Travis Scott, Don C and Errolson Hugh, on top of a reissue of the iconic Roc-A-Fella Air Force 1. Not stopping there, even more redesigned Air Force 1 models were later shown by John Elliot and Public School New York.
Now, Nike set up shop at ComplexCon to continue celebrating everything Air Force. For those in attendance, the Air Force 1 installation included customization workshops, Air Force 1 merch, as well as the chance to buy limited releases, and even meet Nike collaborators like Errolson Hugh and Don C.
Looking back at the silhouette’s history, an insane Air Force 1 “Grails Wall” was also part of the exhibition, curated with the help of Round Two Hollywood. Attendees were even given the opportunity to enter a special raffle for a chance to win one of the 100 rare pairs on the wall, which featured noteworthy Air Force 1s from Supreme, ACRONYM, CLOT, Riccardo Tisci, A-COLD-WALL* and much more.
