Japanese luxury retailer Principe Privé is getting attention for their rusted take on the sacai x Nike Blazer Mid. The hand-painted design gives the covetable sneaker a striking deconstructed effect.
One of 2019’s most covetable sneakers, the sacai x Nike Blazer Mid has been surrounded by hype and demand since its debut, inspiring a number of famed colorways and custom takes on the sneaker. However, Principe Privé has managed to deliver one of the most obscure takes yet with this radical redesign.
The “Rusted” sacai x Nike Blazer takes unlikely inspiration from aged sneakers. Principe Privé recruited skilled artists to create the worn effect. The upper is stripped back to raw off-white, with areas coated in paint to create the impression of rust buildup. The effect gets realistic depth atop the signature doubled-up Swooshes and midsoles. And thanks to the acrylic-blend paint employed in the design, the colors won’t run or transfer.
This customization and artistic expertise doesn’t come cheap. You can call this custom shoe your own for a hefty ¥121,000 JPY (approximately $1,110). The “Rusted” sacai x Nike Blazer is set to launch this week via Principe Privet’s web store, with orders expected to be followed up by approximately a 45 to 120-day wait to compensate for the amount of hand-applied detailing.
