After Pete and Jeff, it is now my turn to show you guys my favorite sneakers of the last 12 months. The main difference in our Top 10 here is, that we only show sneakers that we were actually wearing a lot in 2012, rather than just going through the hot releases. I am not sure how it is for you, but for me there is a rather big difference between shoes that I see online and like a lot, shoes that I end up buying and shoes that I also end up wearing a lot. So here, now my Top 10 list of sneakers that I liked, bought and wore A LOT.

2012 does not make it very easy, because I have to admit, it has been a big year for sneakers. They came back stronger than ever before, at least that is how it felt for me. And thankfully this time around, it was not only retros that made the cut, but people, including myself, seem genuinely excited about the more technical and innovative sneakers as well. That is also reflected to a certain degree in my Top 10 of 2012.

See the full list here below.

10. Nike Lunar Wood

A bit older, but I wore the grey/volt Nike Lunar Wood a lot in 2012. A perfect shoe for the rainy and cold days, as its a little more rugged than all the other sneakers in my closet.

9. New Balance x nonnative 997

The minute I saw these I knew I had to own them. New Balance and Japanese brand nonnative produced a beautiful and elegant running shoe this year. Because of the light colors, I only wore them on the sunny days.

8. Nike x Undercover GYAKUSOU Free

Another great sneaker from the Nike x Undercover collection. Especially the color scheme continues to impress, as its subtle, but very different from everything else out there.

7. adidas Originals Consortium ZX500 OG

Another welcome return this year was the adidas ZX500 OG. Great colorway, nice new details and just a perfect all around sneaker.

6. Nike Woven

One of the most comfortable sneakers on the planet and I was a fan from Day 1, therefore it was also great news that the Nike Woven would come back this summer. The "French" colorway was my favorite and from beach to town, these did a great jon over the summer.

5. Maison Martin Margiela Military Sneaker

I have always been a fan of the sneaker and finally got around to buying one Summer 2012. Margiela took the classic German military trainer to the next level, adding fantastic premium leathers and other features to it. Also looks great with more dressed up looks.

4. Nike HTM Flyknit

I was in love the minute these were announced in early 2012. A great new technology and under the HTM umbrella they released this black Nike Flyknit pair with volt branding. Especially during the summer months this was a great shoe.

3. New Balance 998

It was a massive year for New Balance, both in terms of collaborations, but also in terms of inline styles. I bought these in Tokyo and love the classic NB grey color scheme, yet the thick outer sole and slimmer toe box of the 998.

2. Converse All Star Chuck Taylor COMME des GARCONS PLAY

As you can see I like things clean and I love the All Star Chuck Taylor. The COMME des GARCONS PLAY version is clean, yet with some nice accents. I just catch myself buying them every year again and beating them until death. A great shoe.

1. Common Projects Achilles Low

My favorite pair and by far the pair of sneakers that I wore the most in 2012 is the classic Achilles Low by Common Projects. I beat it in rain, snow and the sun, the leather just gets better over time and it becomes more comfortable. Easy to dress up and down, it remains to be just a perfect pair of sneakers.
