Earlier this week, Frank Ocean was among the special guests handpicked by President Obama to attend his final White House State Dinner. It was there, accompanied by his mother, that he gave his first interview to the press in nearly three years.

And, naturally, they discussed Vans. Ocean, ever the transgressive, matched his suit with a pair of black-and-white checkered Vans for his evening attire. Though there is no factual proof, it seems safe to say that he is the first attendee in history to do so. His reasoning behind it? "First time doing it, probably because it's my first time here."

And as a reporter asked if the Vans were meant as a statement of any kind, Frank left us with a pricelessly valuable piece of wisdom: "You can't think, you just have to do things."

In other music news, A$AP Ferg shared a remix of his track "New Level" featuring a stacked guest list of A$AP Rocky, Future and Lil Uzi Vert. Listen to it right here.
