After the dark crimson onslaught of Kanye West's YEEZY Season 5 show back in February, we speculated that burgundy might become streetwear's next favorite color. The verdict's out on that one — orange is still as popular as ever — but it seems Drake's discovered a taste for the color, too, as he recently made an appearance in his hometown dressed in a outrageously luxe deep-red leather jacket by Prada.
Drake wore the piece while paying a visit to the Toronto International Film Festival to show support for The Carter Effect, which premiered at the festival. The Sean Menard-directed documentary chronicles the life and career of Vince Carter, the eight-time NBA All-Star who was a sensation while playing for the Toronto Raptors.
Always one to rep his hometown, Drake later admitted that the NBA player was a huge inspiration on him when he was younger. "It just let me know that it was possible. It was confidence," he told an audience after the film's premiere. "It was the realization that it was attainable. This guy could come over here and lift us up. Imagine if it was one of us that could make it out there."
Drizzy rounded out his ’fit with some tailored trousers and plush black leather Chelsea boots (which have been a chic menswear vibe for ages now). The deep red hues on show are a fitting way to kick off the fall season, and tailored trousers add an elevated sense of chic to Drizzy's fit.
Unfortunately, it looks like the piece is currently sold out.
