Rapper and entrepreneur Birdman recently got together with Complex‘s Joe La Puma at Flight Club in Los Angeles to do a little sneaker shopping and talk about classic Cash Money style. During the visit, the Cash Money CEO went onto discuss his partnership with footwear brand Lugz, his love for basketball, and why he stays away from Lil Wayne and Drake’s sneaker deals.

Speaking on his early career, the rapper reveals that a successful collaboration with Lugz allowed him to purchase a $3 million home in New Orleans. Speaking on his love for the brand, Birdman even went as far to say that it was Reebok that put his home city of  New Orleans on the map. “Nike was a fad too, at the time,” he said. “But in our projects, we was on Reeboks and Girbaud,” he continued.

Birdman also reveals why he’s not the biggest fan of Jordans, but readily shows love to basketball players Michael Jordan, Russell Westbrook, and Kyrie Irving. Touching upon Drake’s business venture with the Jumpman brand, Birdman explains, “It’s all a part of the culture.”
