In continued celebration of Vans' 50th anniversary, Vans has launched the "Van Doren Approved" collection, an assortment of footwear and apparel handpicked by Steve Van Doren, son of Vans founder Paul Van Doren.

The collection channels Vans' origins with a theme of DIY aesthetics. Pattern-clashing and color-contrasting footwear include old school color blocking and unconventional usage of swatches. Iconic Vans prints such as the classic checkerboard, aloha leaf and skull pirate can be found on re-issued silhouettes such as the Sk8-Hi 38 Reissue.

Additionally, the collection will also feature caps, tees and backpacks outfitted with the classic Vans prints. The collection in itself is a testament to the timelessness of Vans' designs - the selection will boast a feel of authenticity to its roots and heritage.

The full "Van Doren Approved" collection will arrive at Vans retailers and online this month.
