From reimagining the vibrant tunes of Hugh Masekela to remixing contemporary favorites like Alicia Keys, Black Coffee is undoubtedly one of South Africa's most prolific house music producers. He's been a major force in bringing the country's soulful iteration of the genre to a global stage; he's also an avid sneakerhead and denim aficionado. Though he calls Jo-burg his permanent home, the traveling DJ recently made a pit stop through New York City, and like most people, he couldn't resist doing a little shopping while he was there.

We tagged along as he hit up all of his favorite haunts, and asked him to share some tracks that he felt fit the aesthetic of each store.

Look below to see his must-visit destinations and press play to listen to the Black Coffee soundtracks that reflect the energy of the store.

Flight Club

Flight Club is THE trusted, tried-and-tested source for when I’m searching for hard to find kicks in NYC. It's also literally the only store on planet earth that still had a YEEZY Boost supply last season when I was looking for a gift to buy my wife.

Kith is hands down one of the coolest stores I’ve ever visited in New York. I felt like I’d stepped into a museum of sneaker culture and history. The sneaker installation on the roof is just madness!

I readily admit that I have an incurable obsession with denim. Very few brands satisfy my exacting standards and taste in that department. That's why G-Star is my denim staple. No trip to NYC is complete until I’ve stopped by the 5th Avenue flagship.

Distinctive tailoring and an irreverent approach to design and denim are the reasons why I’m a DSquared2 fan. I also met the two founders of the brand this past summer whilst performing at a lavish private wedding off the coast of Capri; it was a thrill, and slightly surreal.

NikeLab 21M

This is my idea of Nike heaven! I have to bring my boys here next time they’re with me in New York. They’d get such a kick out of customizing their own sneakers at the Nike iD Studio.
