Editor’s Notes: Following September’s release of its first NASA-themed sneaker, Mercer Amsterdam is back with another intergalactic drop. Presented is the W3RD 2.0 Night Mission, a nod to the first manned rocket launch at night.
At 12:33 a.m. EST on December 7, 1972, Apollo 17 took off into space for the final mission of NASA’s Apollo program. In paying homage to the historic occasion, Mercer Amsterdam’s W3RD 2.0 Night Mission boasts “Apollo XVII” engraved in silver on the side of the predominantly black sneaker. The shoe is then highlighted by 3M detailing which lights up in the dark.
Mercer Amsterdam’s NASA-themed W3RD 2.0 Night Mission releases on December 14 at Shoebaloo, Tessuti, and merceramsterdam.com, alongside a special T-shirt in limited quantity. The first five customers will also receive a special NASA Apollo 17-inspired Mercer carry case.
