Clement Fernandes has imagined a truly futuristic sneaker concept drawing inspiration from aerospace equipment, sharp shapes, and a minimal color unit. The design in turn points towards the settlement of humans on the Red Planet.
Imagined as a Y-3 running shoe, the Space_X boasts upper construction from nylon, paired with carbon nanotubes. The carbon nanotubes are thus activated by body heat, contracting the nylon fibers in order to adjust the upper to the foot. Rubber elements have then been applied to strengthen the overall makeup of the sneaker, while EVA tooling provides multi-density.
Could this be a glimpse into the future of footwear? Only time will tell.
